Aims

The aim of this course is to familiarise participants with the new child protection conference model ‘Blackpool Families Rock’ and practitioners will have the opportunity to participate in a ‘mock’ child protection conference using the new model. This will enable practitioners to be able to gain a better understanding of the process and the importance of multi-agency working together.

Objectives

By the end of the session the course participants will have an understanding of:

  • The Blackpool Families Rock model of practice.
  • How child protection conferences will be run using the new model.
  • How the model of practice will be used when they participate in a child protection conference by interpreting information and determining a conclusion.
  • How to devise SMART Child Protection plans.
  • How to differentiate the role and responsibilities of agencies involved in the child protection process.
  • How to identify the remit and tasks of core groups.
  • The importance of collaborative work and shared responsibility.
  • How to relate to the needs of the child in core group work.
  • How to recognise when it is appropriate to refer to the LADO.
  • The process which is undertaken when an allegation is made and possible outcomes.
