Target Audience

This course is aimed at practitioners who are designated safeguarding leads in the children's workforce, who work with children aged 4 years to 18 years. This includes universal services, charities and those who provide an early help service or for those practitioners who work within specialist services at statutory intervention level.

Aims

The aim of this course is for practitioners who have safeguarding responsibilities to understand the concepts of Safeguarding & Child Protection and how they relate to their job. As well as to look at their role within a national context against the relevant legislation.

Objectives

By the end of the session the course participants will have been informed how:

  • To understand your responsibilities as the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
  • To manage local issues and best practice in this area.
  • To recognise and respond to concerns appropriately.
  • To share information appropriately with other professionals and agencies.
