Target audience

This course is aimed at practitioners who work as part of universal service or provide an early help service who are specifically working with families and children suffering from domestic abuse. As well as those who work within specialist services which sit under statutory intervention. Please also be aware you must have completed a basic domestic abuse awareness course prior to completing this.

Learning objectives

By the end of the session the course participants will have been informed how:

  • To increase professional awareness of domestic abuse and the impact on children in order to facilitate meaningful assessment.
  • To introduce Johnson's typologies.
  • To look at the link between trauma and domestic abuse.
  • To discuss roles children may play in a domestic abuse household.
