Target Audience

This course is aimed at practitioners who are designated safeguarding leads in the children's workforce, who work with children aged 0-4 years in an early years setting.

The aim of this course is for practitioners who have safeguarding responsibilities to understand the concepts of Safeguarding & Child Protection and how they relate to their job. As well as to look at their role within a national context against the relevant legislation.


By the end of the session the course participants will have been informed how:

  • To understand your responsibilities as the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
  • To manage local issues and best practice in this area.
  • To be able to recognise and respond to concerns appropriately.
  • To share information appropriately with other professionals and agencies.
