Blackpool practitioners only.

This course is aimed at all practitioners who work within the children’s workforce. This includes universal services, education, charities, early help and specialist services at statutory intervention level. It is aimed at practitioners who have an active caseload of children who may be at risk of sexual harmful behaviour, or children who are engaging in this type of behaviour and need to gain a better understanding of the Brook Traffic Light System and to know how to distinguish healthy and harmful sexual behaviour in children and young people.

The aim of this course is to provide support to staff in key agencies such as, residential staff, foster carers, education staff and others in the safeguarding public protection network with a basic awareness and understanding of children and young people who display sexually harmful behaviour.


By the end of the session the course participants will have been informed how:

  • To raise awareness and confidence of staff in this area of work
  • To enable staff to recognise signs of inappropriate sexual behaviour
  • To promote and support the management of young people who display sexually harmful behaviour
  • To understand the Brook Traffic Light System
  • To understand the local referral pathways
