Target Audience
This course is aimed at practitioners who work within the Children’s workforce. This includes universal services, education, charities and those who provide an early help service. As well as for those practitioners who work within specialist services at statutory intervention level who wish to gain a better understanding of Safeguarding for Children with Additional needs.

Aims
The aim of this course is to develop the knowledge and skills of participants to enable them to work confidently and effectively in recognising and responding to situations where disabled children may be at risk or have been maltreated
Objectives
By the end of the session the course participants will have been informed how:
- To differentiate between disability and difficulty
- To have an increased awareness of the vulnerability of additional needs children and young people from potential abuse
- To recognise and respond to concerns
- To ensure the needs of disabled children are addressed within the child protection process
