Aims
The aim of this session is to give an overview of the new multi-agency safeguarding framework around self neglect. The self-neglect framework provides process guidance for multi-agency partners on how to respond when concerns of self-neglect have been identified.
Objectives
By the end of the session the course participants will have been informed how:
• A multi-agency framework and referral pathway has been developed to identify, refer and respond to self-neglect.
• To recognise indicators of self-neglect, including risk assessment and management, joint working and information sharing; mental capacity assessment processes; and practices.
• To access the hoarding guidance.
• To recognise the importance of joint investigation, enquiry and information sharing, to consider current practice, legal powers, policy, processes and challenges.
• To discuss co-ordinated responses and identify support mechanisms for people who hoard or self-neglect in a structured and systematic way.
