Target Audience

This course is aimed at practitioners who work within the children’s workforce as part of universal service or provide an early help service. As well as those who work within specialist services which sit under statutory intervention who wish to gain an insight into how Parental Stressors leading from the ‘Toxic Trio’ can impact on Safeguarding Children.

Aims

The aim of this course is to raise awareness of the impact parental drug and alcohol misuse, domestic abuse and parental mental health (Toxic Trio) has on children, young people and their families.

Objectives

By the end of the session the course participants will have been informed how:

  • To recognise the impact of ‘Hidden Harm’
  • To explore the local and national context
  • To recognise associated risk factors and identify children and young people at risk of Hidden Harm
  • To identify the current support services in Blackpool for children and adults
